Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed during an exchange of fire with Maoists in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
Reportedly, a CRPF team of the 168th battalion was out for a road opening and sanitising duty when it was ambushed by Maoists near Putkel under Basaguda police limits.
Assistant Commandant SB Tirkey was killed in the encounter while one personnel is stated to have been injured. A combing operation is currently underway in the area.
