**Bhubaneswar**: Vice Chairman of Supreme Court constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Black Money, Justice Arijit Pasayat, on Monday said that demonetisation is not the only means for eradicating black money from the country.
Talking to media on the sidelines of Nalco Foundation Day Lecture here in Odisha’s capital city, Justice Pasayat said, “Demonetisation is just a part of the bigger process to do away with black money.”
Pasayat delivered a lecture series on “Environment and progress: issues and challenges” here at the 16th edition of Nalco Foundation Day Lecture.
In his speech, the retired Supreme Court Justice stressed on the role of Indian legislature and judiciary in preventing the threats of modernisation and pollution on environment.
“Environmental protection has now become a matter of grave concern for human existence. Therefore protecting and conserving environment should be a constitutional mandate. There is constitutional imperative on the Government bodies not only to ensure and safeguard the environment but also to take adequate measure to promote, protect and improve environment.” former SC judge observed.
