**Bhubaneswar:** In a peculiar course of events, doctor-turned IPS officer Abhisek Pallav used his medical skills to treat a wounded Maoist after a seven-hour long encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district.
According to official information, Dantewada’s additional superintendent police Pallav and the infamous Maoist Somaru indulged in a fierce gun battle last week in the dense forest of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar. Saumara was critically injured in the encounter that left five Maoists and two policemen dead.
Somara, who carried a bounty of one lakh rupees on his head, was shot in the abdomen. But the doctor-turned-policeman came to his rescue. He immediately bandaged the wounded Somaru and gave him painkiller injections. After the first aid treatment, he sent the extremist to the nearest hospital in an ambulance.
