New Delhi: A hardcore Maoist carrying Rs 5 lakh bounty on his head was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand’s Latehar district on Monday.
Another Maoist was arrested during the operation, according to Palamu DIG YS Ramesh.
“Manish Yadav, who was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was killed in the gunfight with security forces. Another Maoist Kundan Kherwar was arrested,” Palamu DIG YS Ramesh told media.
The encounter occurred on Sunday night in a forest in Dauna under the Mauhadand Police Station limits. The killed Maoist was identified as Manish Yadav, while the arrested rebel was identified as Kundan Kherwar.
This operation comes just two days after security forces killed two Maoists, including JJMP supremo Pappu Lohra, who had a Rs 10 lakh bounty on his head, in an anti-Naxal operation in the same district.
