Fire Breaks Out At Rajkot’s Covid Hospital, 5 Patients Killed

New Delhi: Five patients were killed and six others injured as a major fire broke out at Uday Shivanand Covid hospital in Rajkot, Gujarat. The fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at about 1 AM today.

According to municipal corporation reports, as many as 11 patients were inside the ICU at the time of the incident. While six out of 11 patients in ICU were saved, the other five lost their lives.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani expressed grief over the incident and announced Rs 4 lakh ex gratia for the next of kin of those who were killed in the accident. He also ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.
