Jamshedpur: A major fire broke out in the Coke plant at Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur factory.
Three contract employees have been injured in the incident.
Five fire tenders have brought the fire under control.
According to a series of tweets by Tata Steel, a blasting sound was reported in a coke plant today morning.
The coke plant at Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur Works was non-operational and is undergoing a dismantling process, the tweet added.
In another tweet, Tata Steel stated that three contract employees have sustained minor injuries and were administered first aid.
While two of them have been discharged post first aid, one is under medical observation, the tweet added.
Tata Steel has said that the incident had no impact on production.
In a statement Tata Steel has said that its emergency response team immediately reached the incident site; the area was cordoned off and the situation was brought under control.
As per the standard safety protocol, the incident was immediately reported to the relevant authorities, and an investigation to assess the cause is underway, the statement added.
“As a responsible corporate, we remain committed to safe operations and the safety & well-being of all its stakeholders.” the statement further said.
