Bhubaneswar: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has been admitted to the Emergency department of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi around 8 pm on Thursday.
Details regarding the reason for his hospitalisation remain unclear, according to national media reports.
Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, concluded his long-standing political journey earlier this year by retiring from the Rajya Sabha. His tenure in the Upper House spanned 33 years, marking the end of a significant chapter in his illustrious career.
India’s only Sikh Prime Minister, Dr. Singh first entered the Rajya Sabha in 1991, shortly after being appointed Finance Minister under the leadership of then-Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. He represented Assam for five consecutive terms before shifting to Rajasthan in 2019.
The nation awaits further updates on the health of the esteemed economist and statesman.
