Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday promised to introduce two key pro-people schemes if the Congress is voted to power again in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a rally in Jhunjhunu, Gehlot announced an annual financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to each woman head of a family. The Chief Minister also promised to provide cooking gas cylinders at Rs 500 to over 1 crore families.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also present along with the Chief Minister at the rally.
Meanwhile, reacting to the pre-poll promises, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said “the Congress will not benefit by making such announcements now”.
BJP legislator and Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore said: “The Congress will not benefit by making these announcements after elections have been announced. If they ever wanted the women to avail benefits, the announcement could have been made earlier.”
Polling for the 200 Assembly seats in Rajasthan is scheduled to be held on November 25 while the votes will be counted on December 3.
