Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of External Affairs today announced that the Government of India (GoI) has decided to bear the medical expenses of the Indian student Harjot Singh who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kyiv in war-torn Ukraine.
“Govt of India will be bearing expenses for Harjot Singh’s medical treatment (in Kyiv, Ukraine). We are trying to ascertain his medical status…Our embassy is trying to get an update on his health status…trying to reach out but facing trouble as it’s a conflict zone,” informed MEA today evening.
Harjot who along with his friends was trying to escape from Ukraine was denied entry to board a train at Kyiv station for Lviv. So they decided to hire a cab to Lviv. However, some people started firing at their cab when they were on their way to Lviv.
According to reports, one bullet shot at Harjot’s shoulder, another entered his chest and his leg has also been fractured. Harjot hails from Delhi’s Chhatarpur.
