Gurugram Violence: RWAs To Collect, Maintain Data On Domestic Help, Drivers Of Particular Community

Gurugram:  Following the communal violence in Haryana, various resident welfare associations (RWAs) in Gurugram have reportedly started collecting and maintaining a database of domestic help and drivers belonging to a particular community.

Officials told IANS on condition of anonymity that the RWAs are providing the information to the police stations in their respective areas as a preventive measure against anti-social elements, sources said.

Communal clashes broke out in Haryana’s Nuh in Mewat after a religious procession heading to a place of worship was allegedly attacked on July 31. The violence spread to Gurugram and some districts of Haryana adjoining Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

After the Nuh riots, several shops were set ablaze after which panicked migrant workers in Gurugram started leaving for their native place. These incidents were reported from Sector-67, Sector-70A, Badshahpur, Pataudi Chowk, Rajiv Nagar, Devilal Colony, and Khandsa Road.

Senior police officers of the Gurugram police requesting anonymity said, “We do not want to create panic among people. We just asked RWAs to provide details of domestic help, drivers, security, sweepers, and others so that police deployment could be ensured at their residence.”

The officers further said, however, no official orders were issued related to the matter.

While talking to IANS, Ashish Kumar, RWA President of Uniworld City, Sector-30 Gurugram said, “It was an year-old notification of the Haryana Government to maintain a database of tenants and police verification as security measures. No verification of a particular community people was done in the society recently related to Gurugram violence.”

“We have already taken safety measures inside the condo to ensure the security of the residents. We provide training to our security guards to be alert during duty hours and keep patrolling inside the premises,” he said.

Kusum Sharma, RWA President of Suncity told IANS that, “We hired domestic helps through registered agencies only. Police verifications are the responsibility of the particular resident. However, We did not conduct any verification of Muslim people recently.”

Bhawani Shankar Tripathy, Vice President of Sector-23 told IANS,” We have already done verification of domestic helps, and the same was provided to the police. Amid violence, we did not receive any directive from the administration to conduct any survey of a particular community people.”

Hyderabad: GMR-led Hyderabad International Airport on Tuesday announced the launch of end-to-end paperless e-boarding for international flights, thus becoming the first airport in India to do so, on Oct 27, 2020. The service is currently available for select international flights of IndiGo Airlines. The airport rolled out its e-boarding services for international flights after the government's nod based on a rigorous and successful pilot.
