New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a wanted history sheeter against whom more than 125 criminal cases were lodged, an official said on Sunday.
The accused has been identified as Wasim a.k.a. Lambu. A pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, Jasmeet Singh said Wasim who used to target “big houses” has been giving the police personnel a slip for a long time.
He said Inspector Shiv Kumar and Pawan Kumar were working on the information under supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Attar Singh to nab the accused.
“Wasim was held on August 19 from an area near Anand Vihar Railway Station. He was wanted in criminal cases including that of a sensational case of firing on the police team led by the then SHO, Kotla Mubarakpur near ISBT Kashmere Gate in 2021,” said the police official.
The police officer said the accused was frequently changing his hideout in Delhi, and also in the states of West Bengal, Bihar and Haryana in a bid to evade arrest.
“Wasim was previously involved in more than 125 criminal cases including attempt to murder, robbery, snatching, rape, house breaking, burglary, theft, trespass, assault on police, hurt, intimidation, arms act lodged in Delhi in the last 8 years. Currently, he was wanted in 35 criminal cases,” DCP Singh said.
