Malkangiri: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was martyred while a constable was injured in an IED blast planted by Maoists in Narayanpur area of Chhattisgarh on Monday.
The martyred officer was identified as Rajendra Singh and the injured constable is Mahesh, of ITBP’s 53rd battalion.
Reportedly, at around 8.30 am today, a team of the ITBP’s 53rd battalion was out on patrolling duty to ensure security to a road construction work between Dondribeda and Sonpur villages when they came in contact with the IED.
As a result of the explosion, Singh died on the spot while Mahesh was injured. The injured constable is presently undergoing treatment at Narayanpur District Headquarters Hospital.
