Bhubaneswar: Captain Deepak Sathe who died in the Air India flight crash at Kerala’s Kozhikode airport was one of the most experienced pilots in India. A former Test Pilot of the Indian Air Force, Capt Sathe was a very professional pilot with several thousand hours of flying experience.
He was a passout of National Defence Academy’s 58th batch and had received the President Gold Medal. Capt Sathe was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour.
Capt Sathe was flying Air india Express AXB1344, Boeing 737 from Dubai to Calicut. The ill-fated flight had 191 persons on board. As per latest reports, 19 persons have been killed in the incident, including Capt Sathe.
