Bhubaneswar/Bhopal: Six-year-old Tanmay Sahu who fell into a 40-ft deep borewell on December 6 in Mandavi village of Betul district in Madhya Pradesh was rescued in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. However, Betul district administration reported the child as dead.
Tanmay fell into the borewell on Tuesday evening while he was playing outside his home. The local police and the administration were informed about the incident, following which a rescue operation was launched.
Rescuers dug a tunnel parallel to the borewell. CCTV cameras were installed to monitor the child’s movements and oxygen was being supplied to him, however, no reponse was noticed from him. Officials claimed that digging of tunnel was slow due to hard rock and water coming out from it.
