Bhubaneswar: Debunking rumours that former President of India Pranab Mukherjee is no more, his son Abhijit Mukherjee confirmed that his father is ‘alive and haemodynamically stable’.
He accused reputed journalists of posting fake news regarding the death of the senior Mukherjee. His tweet said, “Speculations & fake news being circulated by reputed Journalists on social media clearly reflects that Media in India has become a factory of Fake News.”

The ex-President’s daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee also took to Twitter to quash the rumours. Additionally, she made a public request to not call her for updates as she needed to keep her phone free for any updates from the hospital.

The hashtag #ripPranabMukherjee has been trending on Twitter since today morning with several unverifiable sources confirming the news.
On August 10, the former President was admitted to hospital for a brain surgery where he tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the procedure. He was on ventilator support post-surgery after being deemed critical by the doctors attending him.
