New Delhi: BJP chief J.P. Nadda on Wednesday interacted with foreign envoys of BIMSTEC nations and European countries on the occasion of the party’s foundation day.
Envoys from France, the European Union (EU) delegation, Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Italy, Hungary, Vietnam, Norway, and the High Commissioners of Bangladesh, and Singapore were present during the interaction.
Nadda’s interaction was held under a new initiative ‘Know BJP’ launched for the foreign audience by the party on its 42nd foundation day on Wednesday.
After interacting with the foreign envoy, Nadda tweeted: “Had the privilege to interact and be in the company of ambassadors from 13 countries, as part of our initiative ‘Know BJP’ at the BJP HQ. We aim to share information about our party and its history to people across the globe through many such exercises like this in the future.”
A documentary depicting the journey of Jan Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was also shown to foreign envoys.
Sources said a special coffee-table book ‘Nation First’ was also presented to the guests.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, BJP Vice President Baijayant Jay Panda, in-charge of party foreign affairs department Vijay Chauthaiwale, national spokespersons Sudhanshu Trivedi and Mmhonlumo Kikon and other leaders were present during the interaction.
Nadda briefed about the history, struggles, successes, ideology and contribution of the BJP and its governments in national development.
The BJP chief also answered the queries of the foreign envoys.
The interaction lasted for three hours with the Q&A session lasting for about one and a half hours.
After the interaction, they also took a tour of the BJP office. The BJP intends to continue such interactions with small groups of foreign diplomats in future too.
Exchanges of delegations with political parties of friendly countries are also being planned in due course of time.
