Maoist Cash

Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, security forces recovered Rs 35 lakh in cash allegedly belonging to Maoist cadres during an anti-Maoist operation in the Saranda forests under Chaibasa police station in Ranchi district of Jharkhand.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of hidden Maoist funds, a joint operation was launched by Jharkhand Jaguar and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). During the search, the team unearthed bundles of cash buried underground inside a steel container, wrapped securely in paper and plastic.

According to police, the recovered money was intended to be used for procuring explosives and planting landmines to target security forces operating in the region.

Ranchi Range Inspector General Manoj Kaushik confirmed the recovery in a post on social media platform X.

“On a specific intelligence related to Maoist financing, Chaibasa police has recovered ₹35 lakhs approx (exact counting will be done at PS) today. Money was for purchase of explosives to mine the area against forces. Congratulations!,” he posted.
