Shaktikanta Das Reappointed As RBI Governor

Bhubaneswar: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday approved the reappointment of Shaktikanta Das as Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a period of three years beyond 10.12.2021 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Odisha-born Das, a retired 1980 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, had been appointed the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India on 10.12.2018.

During his career as an IAS officer, he served in various capacities for Indian and Tamil Nadu governments, including as Economic Affairs Secretary of India, Revenue Secretary of India, Fertilizers Secretary of India.

Das was a member of the Fifteenth Finance Commission of India, and India’s Sherpa to G20.
