Sushil Chandra Appointed New Chief Election Commissioner

Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind today appointed Sushil Chandra, the senior-most Election Commissioner, as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India, said a PIB press release.

According to the press release, Sushil Chandra will assume the charge of the office of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) with effect from the 13th April 2021 consequent upon Sunil Arora demitting the Office of the Chief Election Commissioner on the 12th April 2021.

A notification in this regard has been issued by Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice today, the press release added.
