Bhubaneswar: In the murder case of a journalist from Chhattisgarh, the police have arrested three suspects and are searching for the main accused, Suresh Chandrakar, as of Saturday.
Bastar IG P. Sundarraj confirmed the arrests of the three individuals involved in the death of freelance reporter Mukesh Chandrakar (33). His body was discovered in a septic tank on the property of contractor Suresh Chandrakar at Chattanpara Basti in Bijapur town.
Accordings to reports, Mukesh had been missing since the evening of January 1. His elder brother Yukesh Chandrakar, filed a missing person report the following day.
After that, the police started the investigation and tracked Mukesh’s phone. They traced his location to a property owned by contractor Suresh Chandrakar in Chattanpara Basti, where they found his body. A murder case has been registered, and a few suspects have been detained for questioning. The post-mortem report is awaited.
Locals have mentioned that Mukesh had recently reported on irregularities in road construction projects in the area, which might have led to this tragic incident.
In response, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnu Deo Sai vowed on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “The culprits behind this incident will not be spared. We have instructed the police to arrest them as soon as possible and ensure they face the harshest punishment.”
