Bhubaneswar: In a major development, three Maoists were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh bordering Odisha.
As per the reports of national media, the joint team of security clashed with the rebels during a search operation in a forest near Basaguda area of Bijapur district.
The Maoists opened fire at the security forces and jawans too retaliated. The exchange of fire continued for quite some time in which three extremists were eliminated.
The rebel killed in the encounter was confirmed by the Superintendent of Police of Bijapur district Anjaney Vaishnavarya.
Two days ago, three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh.
