**New Delhi**: As media houses reported about the buzz of ‘khichdi’ to be declared as the national food, the twitterati exploded over it giving strange and funny reactions on this decision. To clear up the confusion, the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Harsimrat Kaur Badal clarified that Khichdi wont be named as the national food and it was just to be promoted as “Brand India nourishment” at an occasion in Delhi on November 4 called World Food India.
She tweeted:
Enough Khichdi cooked up on a fictitious ‘National Dish’. It has only been put for a record entry in #WorldFoodIndia.

The confusion arose as there were reports pouring in regarding the preparation of 800 kg of Khichdi on Nov 4 in a mega event organised by the Ministry of Food Processing, and it would be prepared by renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor.
At the curtain raiser event, Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal told reporters, “Khichdi is the wonder staple food of India and is considered the healthiest prepared food in India and it is being eaten across length and breadth of India by rich and poor.” It was enough to arouse the confusion which was followed by a series of hilarious tweets.
If Khichdi is being accorded the status of National Food, then Ghee, Dahi, Papad and Achaar should immediately be declared National Friends. pic.twitter.com/bLX842WL1S

So, I made khichdi for lunch today. Do I eat it while playing the national anthem in the background & watching national bird on national TV?

Why #Khichdi?
Why not make “shud desi gobar of gau mata” national food?

If you aren’t allowed to eat the National bird/animal/song, you mustn’t be allowed to eat the National food either. Say no to khichdi.
