Bhubaneswar: Two college students from an Islamic college in Malappuram district in Kerala have won a statewide online Ramayana quiz contest organised by DC Books between July 23 to July 25.
The students are Mohammad Jabir PK and Mohammad Basith M of the Wafy course (Islamic studies) at KKHM Islamic and Arts College in Valanchery. They topped the quiz among 1,000 participants.
Reportedly, they had been reading and learning about ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Hinduism’ as part of their course. The syllabus of the Wafy course includes a paper on Indian religions. As part of the syllabus, they studied Ramayana and also referred to other books from the college library.
The students said that studying other religious books would help to learn the religions better and prevent violence. All religions teach love and respect for each other.
