9-Month-Old Boy Dies Due To Alleged Medical Negligence In Balasore

Balasore: In yet another case of alleged medical negligence, a nine-month-old boy was died here on Sunday after being denied treatment for few hours.

The deceased has been identified as Gyaneswar Mahalik, son of Gangadhar from Soro area in the district.

According to reports, the toddler was taken to a private clinic at Central School Square here after as he was suffering from asthma.

The family members of the deceased alleged that the doctor didn’t attend the child despite his condition started critical as patients were called on as per their serial number.

When the child’s condition turned critical, the hospital’s staff had given Oxygen but a few minutes later the boy died.

Even after knowing the child is no more, the doctor had asked his parents to shift him to District Headquarters Hospital.

Expecting recovery of the child, he was taken to the DHH but the doctors, however, declared him brought dead.

Angry over this, the family members and locals staged a protest in front of the private clinic demanding immediate arrest of the doctor.

Acting on complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased, the police detained the doctor and began investigation into the matter.
