Kandhamal/ Berhampur: In an alleged case of ragging by seniors, a ninth class student was allegedly thrashed violently by some Plus Two students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kandhamal which resulted in rupturing his eardrum.

The incident came into limelight after the school authorities admitted the ninth class student to Phulbani hospital. The student had grave injuries on his waist along with a ruptured eardrum.

He was later shifted to MKCG medical college and hospital in Berhampur by his family for better treatment.

Although no formal complaint has been lodged, the Kandhamal Collector has instructed the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) to probe on the incident and submit a report.

Notably, the school authorities have also not taken any action against the senior students as of now.
