**Kendrapada: ** A mob of unruly villagers decided to take law in their own hands on Wednesday night when they allegedly nabbed a thief trying to loot a man’ s home in Odisha’s Kendrapada district. They tied the man and thrashed him before handing him over to the police the next morning.
This incident occurred at Jagatpur village under Patkura PS.
According to sources, three thieves planned to loot a man named Sarat Jena’s house. They were cutting the grill when some stray dogs began barking loudly. It woke up some neighbours who raised an alarm when they noticed the thieves.
Two of the miscreants managed to flee but the third one was caught by the villagers and tied to a pole.
They thrashed him at night and informed the police only the next morning. The police rushed to the spot and rescued the thief.
“We have started our investigation. The person we have arrested is being interrogated and we will soon be able to nab the other two culprits,” informed Debendra Mallick, IIC, Patakura PS.
