Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and at least 12 people were injured, eight critically, after a speeding truck collided with a bus on its way from Sambalpur to Bhadrak near Amlang under Jamankira police limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as the helper of the bus.
The critically injured passengers were first taken to the Kuchinda Sub-District Hospital and later shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla. Six passengers have been admitted to VIMSAR as their condition deteriorated.
According to reports, the accident took place early morning today while the bus driver was trying to overtake the truck. The front portion of the bus was completely damaged in the mishap.
On being informed, police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured passengers. The police have filed a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
