Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, one person was killed on the spot and three others were critically injured when an iron ore-laden truck ran over two bikes near Salapada Mahila Mahavidyalaya under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district on Wednesday.
The critically injured have been admitted to the Sub Divisional Hospital at Anandapur.
According to reports, the deceased and the injured hail from the Sainkul area of Raitala.
In the afternoon today, heavy rain accompanied by thunder lashed the Salapada area. During that time an iron ore-laden truck coming from Salapada Mahila Mahavidyalaya end ran over four persons riding on two bikes coming from the opposite end.
While one person was crushed under the wheels of the truck, the other three were critically injured.
Locals rescued the critically injured persons and rushed them to the hospital. However, the driver of the truck has managed to flee the spot.
Ghasipura police have launched an investigation into the matter.
