Bhubaneswar: One person died and eight others sustained injuries as the car they were travelling in lost its balance and overturned on National Highway 16 near Narayani Square in Ganjam district in the wee hours of Thursday.
The mishap involved a Travera car (OD 07 EN 7896) carrying 12 family members, including five minors, from the Ankuli area of Berhampur.
The deceased has been identified as Narasimha Reddy.
According to reports, the family had visited the Tarini temple in Ghatgaon and was returning from Puri, where they had gone for Jagannath darshan. As they were heading back to Berhampur, the car lost balance and overturned on the highway, rolling four times. The accident claimed one life, and the injured were rushed to the Khallikote Community Health Centre via an 108 ambulance. After receiving primary treatment, two minors and two adults were shifted to MKCG Medical College in Berhampur as their critical condition deteriorated.
