Bhubaneswar: A person was killed and another critically injured after a bomb exploded near Biswal Sahi of Shedheiagarh village in Khordha district in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Nirakar Singh and the injured person has been identified as Lulu Senapati, both residents of Shedheiagarh.
The explosion occurred when the two men were allegedly transporting an explosive bomb on a motorcycle.
According to reports, the bomb detonated unexpectedly while they were on the bike, resulting in the immediate death of one of the riders. The second person, Senapati, was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.
His condition worsened and he was subsequently transferred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he remains under intensive care.
The source of the bomb and the intended destination of the duo are still unknown. The explosion was so powerful that it completely destroyed the motorcycle.
On being informed, the police rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.
A team of forensic experts and bomb squads has also been deployed to examine the remnants of the explosive.
