Bhubaneswar: Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the Balasore police have ramped up security in 10 key locations across the district to ensure public safety and prevent any potential threats.
The heightened vigilance comes after an alert from the Intelligence Department. Acting on this information, the district police have deployed additional forces and set up extensive checkpoints at strategic points along key roads and borders.
According to reports, the 10 areas identified as sensitive include the state and district borders along National Highway No. 60, with particular focus on Laxmannath and Bhograi regions, which are located close to the West Bengal border. These areas are being closely monitored due to their proximity to potential entry points for any illicit activities.
Vehicles traveling towards West Bengal are being subjected to thorough inspections. The police are conducting strict checks at major entry points and random checks at various spots throughout these 10 sensitive locations. The police have made it clear that no vehicle is to pass without undergoing a detailed security check.
The police are also keeping a close watch on suspicious persons and movements, especially at areas like the Udaipur border and the coastal regions.
In addition to land surveillance, marine police forces have been deployed to patrol the coastal areas.
With access to sea routes, there is an increased concern about the potential for illegal crossings or other maritime threats. Marine police stations at Kasafal and Talsari are actively patrolling the waterways to deter any possible security breaches.
