Rayagada: Ten people from four families were hospitalised after consuming curry made with wild mushrooms in Tikarpada village under Doraguda police limits in Kashipur block of Rayagada district on Sunday.
The affected persons have been identified as Drujya Nayak, Rengu Nayak, Kumari Nayak, Anjani Nayak, Dhanamani Nayak, Lakebati Nayak, Pradeep Jhadia, Tampa Jhadia, Dambu Jhadia, and Kabua Gouda.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday evening when the families consumed mushroom curry prepared from wild varieties collected from a nearby forest. Later that night, all ten developed symptoms of food poisoning, including vomiting and diarrhoea.
According to the Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer of Rayagada, five people were treated at Kashipur Community Health Center (CHC) and five others were treated at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Rayagada for advanced care. Water samples from the village were tested and found to be free of contamination. All persons are now in stable condition.
