Bhubaneswar: Night temperatures in several places in Odisha still remained below 10°C on Thursday despite a slight increase in the night temperature across the state.
According to a release by the India Metrological Department (IMD), the weather will remain dry in most districts in Odisha. Dense fog will be seen in most districts, raising the night temperature marginally.
The MeT office said that the winter chill will return to Odisha again from January 29-31, February 6 and 13-15.
G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in Odisha recording the lowest night temperature of 5.2°C on Thursday. Similiguda in Koraput district was a close second with 6.4°C and Phulbani recorded 7°C. At least 12 places in the state are experiencing bitter cold with the mercury standing at 10°C or below.
While the temperature in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 15.5°C, other places where the mercury stood at 10°C or below include Koraput (7.5C), Rourkela (7.8°C), Kirei (8°C), Daringbadi (8.5°C), Jharsuguda (8.5°C), Bhadrak (10°C).
