Bhubaneswar: At least 10 students sustained critical injuries following a lightning strike at a school in Deogarh district today afternoon. The incident took place in Puturapasi upper primary school in Tileibani block of Deogarh district.
According to reports, the lightning struck while classes were going on on the school premises. The students were first taken to the in-house infirmary and then shifted to the CHC.
While three of the students were cured, the remaining seven had to be shifted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
Students of Std IV and V, whose classes were on in a common room sustained injuries. The fans, lights and other electrical equipment were damaged due to the lightning.
