Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education Department is mooting to upgrade at least 100 high schools as higher secondary institutions. The decision is aimed at checking dropout rates after matriculation, especially in remotely located schools, S&ME Minister Samir Ranjan Das said.
In several blocks, there are high schools located far away from colleges or higher secondary educational institutions. This is resulting as a roadblock for many students to continue with their studies, especially for the girl students, Dash said.
“The Department is reviewing such schools and is seriously thinking to upgrade these to higher secondary institutions having +2 classes. The students will no longer need to travel to far-off places to continue with their studies,” the Minister added.
