Malkangiri: In a coordinated crackdown on illegal wildlife hunting, a joint team of forest and revenue officials apprehended 11 persons near Sarkubandha village under Rellageda beat in Chitrakonda Forest Range for allegedly hunting and consuming wild boar meat.
The operation was launched based on credible intelligence inputs indicating poaching activity inside the Sileru East Upper Reserve Land (URL). Upon investigation, the team confirmed that the accused had engaged in the illegal hunting and consumption of wild boar.
During the raid, officials recovered approximately 42.97 kg of raw wild boar meat and rescued two live piglets. Additionally, 10 vehicles and various hunting tools used in the act were seized as evidence. Following detailed interrogation, all 11 accused were produced before the SDJM Court in Malkangiri.
The Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Malkangiri Forest Division, stated that such coordinated action will serve as a strong deterrent against future forest offences in the region.
