11 Arrested On Charges Of Minor Girl’s Rape In Jajpur

Jajpur: The Bari police on Sunday arrested 11 persons, including the main accused, from Kendrapara district on charges of a minor girl’s rape, informed Jajpur SDPO Satyabrat Lenka at a press conference held at Bari Ramachandrapur police station.

The main accused in the incident, Parida alias Kalia (57) of Kalamatiya village, was arrested by the Bari police late on Saturday night from Dandisahi village under Pattamundai police limits in Kendrapara district. Kalia’s son Kisan, daughter Manasi, wife Anusaya, other accomplices Sasirekha Jena of Gamu village and her son Chiranjibi, Praful Kumar Dhal of Baringi village, his wife Auksha, Prakash Dhal, Sabita Samal of Madhusudanpur village and Kailash Chandra Rout of Dandi Sahir were arrested and produced in court after medical examination, Lenka said.

On Sunday morning, a scientific team along with a dog squad went to the crime spot to gather clues, Bari police said.

According to report, Kalia took the victim behind a hay stock near his house on the pretext of showing her something and raped her. He threatened the girl of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.

After the victim, covered in blood, narrated everything to her mother, she was first taken to the Bari Community Health Center (CHH). As her condition deteriorated, she was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital and then to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The condition of victim is said to be critical and she is undergoing treatment at the SCB.

The Bari police have registered a case under Section 572/24 and Section 74 of the POCSO Act. It is learnt that after receiving the information, Bari MLA Biswaranjan Mallick met the victim at the SCB Medical College and Hospital and held discussions with the doctors.
