**Bhubaneswar**: Working on its plan to electrify all villages, the Odisha Government on Thursday decided to provide electricity to around 1100 un-electrified villages by end of October.
Speaking to reporters about the decision, Energy Department Secretary Rajesh Verma said after having discussion with all district collectors through video conferencing that the Government has taken a decision to provide electricity in all un-electrified villages.
“We have discussed in detail about all un-electrified villages with the district collectors via video conferencing. Earlier all these villages were under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) but now these villages have come under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana,” Verma said.
We have got the list of un-electrified villages but the Government will electrify 1100 villages by end of October, the Secretary added.
Besides this, the meeting also discussed other issues like power cut and collection of tariff among others.
The meeting was presided over by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.
