Bhubaneswar: The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) in Odisha has successfully achieved its target of building 12.06 lakh pucca houses over the past five financial years.
In response to a query by Congress legislator Pabitra Saunta, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik informed the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday that 12.06 lakh houses were targeted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana out of which, 11.76 lakh houses have been sanctioned. Of these, 7.43 lakh houses have been completed, while 4.32 lakh houses are still under construction, the minster added.
Giving details regarding the damage of kutcha houses caused by Cyclone Dana, Naik told the House that a total of 3,135 kutcha houses were damaged across various districts in the State.
A total of 21 kutcha houses were damaged in Balasore, while a whopping 8,292 kutcha houses were damaged in Bhadrak. Cuttack reported a relatively low 7 damaged kutcha houses.
Dhenkanal had 17 kutcha houses damaged, and Jajpur had a significant 2,494 kutcha houses damaged. Kendrapada reported 1,261 damaged houses while Keonjhar had 42, and Mayurbhanj had 1,001.
