Kantabanji: Panic prevailed at Kantabanji railway station in Odisha’s Bolangir district on Sunday after the railway officials seized 12 bombs from a wagon. While there is no clarification regarding how the bombs reached the railway wagon, it has been reported that they were produced by the Saintala Badmal Ammunition Factory in the district.
According to local railway officials, the bombs were detected when some labourers were loading rice bags on the wagon on Sunday. The labourers brought the matter to the notice of the railway staff, who informed their higher-ups about the surprising discovery. On ascertaining that the bombs were produced by the Badmal Ordinance factory, they were returned to them.
No willing to reveal any information on the matter, the railway authorities at Kantabaji said that a high-level investigation into the matter is underway. The Kantabanji Station Master said that they have been directed not to speak on the subject. He, however, said that senior officials are investigating who left the bombs in the railway wagon.
