Bhubaneswar: More than 12 people were injured, many critically, as the vehicle they were travelling by collided head-on with a speeding truck near Bahira Square under Baunsuni police limits in Odisha’s Boudh district in the early hours of Sunday. Eight of the injured are from one family.
The injured were travelling from Bijepur in Bargarh district to Puri in an SUV. According to reports, the accident occurred when a speeding truck en route to Boudh from Sonepur collided head-on with the SUV near Bahira Square on National Highway No 57.
The locals and Bausani Fire Services personnel rescued the injured and admitted them to a local hospital. According to reports, all the 12 injured sustained critical injuries on their head, limbs, and torso. The SUV was completely mangled under the impact of the collision.
The police have launched an investigation into the accident.
