12-Hour Bandh Brings Dhenkanal to Standstill

Dhenkanal: Normal life has gone out of gear in the district as the Dhenkanal Citizen Action Committee (Nagarika Kriyanusthan Committee) is observing a 12-hour bandh today.

Their demand includes conversion of old district headquarters hospital at Bazi square to city hospital and the new seven-storied new district headquarters hospital at Dakhinakali area be converted to a full-fledged medical college.

The members of the committee picketed several areas including Bypass Chaka and College Bypass. Vehicular movement has been severely affected bringing the town and nearby areas to a grinding halt.

All commercial establishments including fuel stations have been shut down today.

Several organizations and even common people reiterated the committee’s demands and supported the bandh.
