Bhubaneswar: As many as 12 major poverty alleviation schemes are being implemented in Odisha.
Replying to a query from BJP member from Jashipur Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management Pramila Mallik said that as per the estimation of the Planning Commission using Tendulkar Methodology poverty rate in Odisha in 2004-05 stood at 57.2 percent and had reduced to 32.6 percent in 2011-12; thus registering a 24.6 percent drop between 2004-05 to 2011-12.
So, therefore, 10 years back (2011-12) it was estimated that there were 138.53 lakh people were below the poverty line, she added.
She said that major schemes like Madhu Babu Pension Yojana, Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY), MGNREGS, Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM), KALIA, Nirman Shramika Pucca Ghar Yojana, Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana (BSKY), Mission Shakti, Jaga Mission, State Food Security Scheme (SFSS), Awas, and Mukhyamantri Karmatatpara Abhijana (MUKTA) are being implemented in the State for poverty alleviation and development.
