Bhubaneswar: Mid-March and temperature across the State have started soaring. At least 12 stations have recorded temperatures of 37 degrees or above on Monday, while Bolangir recorded the highest at 38.3 degrees Celcius.
Angul was sizzling at 38.1 while Jharsuguda recorded 38.2 and the maximum temperature at Titlagarh was 38 degrees, the figures shared by the local office of the Indian Meteorological Department reflected.
While Bhubaneswar recorded 36.6 degrees, people of the city experienced heatwave-like conditions on Monday. As per IMD’s forecast, the mercury will continue to soar during this week clocking 40 degrees by Wednesday. There is some possibility of thunderstorms and rain towards the end of the week in the Twin City, IMD stated.
The IMD has predicted that heatwave conditions are likely in isolated pockets over interior Odisha on March 16 and 17. As per the Met Department’s forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius across the State over the next couple of days resulting in heatwave conditions.
