Bhubaneswar: The State Government has initiated action against 125 Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the state for producing sub-standard chhatua as Take Home Ration.
While responding to BJD’s Kalikesh, Deputy Chief Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Pravati Parida informed the Odisha Assembly that on the basis of reports from the State Food Testing Laboratory, Bhubaneswar, collectors have been instructed to take action against the SHGs producing poor-quality Chhatua as per the guidelines under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme.
As many as 125 SHGs have been identified, and the respective district administrations have initiated action against these 125 groups. Several SHGs have been served show-cause notices, while some of the SHGs have been disengaged from the service.
Rayagada district administration served show-cause notices to 14 groups in the district, while 12 SHGs faced action in Jharsuguda, including two being disengaged and penalties imposed on 10 others.
Similarly, 11 SHGs producing sub-standard chhatua were served show-cause notices in Koraput district. In Jagatsinghpur, 10 groups were found producing low-quality food, out of which seven were issued show-cause notices.
Similarly, show-cause notices were issued to CDPOs and supervisors in several districts. The salary of Subarnapur CDPO was held up with a show-cause notice.
