13 Districts Likely To Witness Heavy Rainfall Today: IMD

Bhubaneswar:  As many as 13 Odisha districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall today, according to the prediction of the India Meteorological Department.

As per the IMD weather alert, the affected districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Nabarangapur, Malkangiri, Nuapada, and Koraput, are likely to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. These districts have been issued yellow warnings.

“Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Nabarangapur, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Koraput”, read the IMD prediction for today.

Going by IMD sources, a cyclonic circulation has developed over Chhattisgarh and its adjoining areas, which is likely to bring heavy rainfall to several parts of Odisha starting from July 13.

On Sunday, July 13, heavy rainfall is expected in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur districts. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the latest weather forecasts.

On Monday, July 14, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall. The IMD has issued warnings for thunderstorms with gusty winds in some areas, with wind speeds reaching up to 30-40 kmph.

On Tuesday, July 15, Mayurbhanj district is expected to receive heavy rainfall.
