Sundargarh: Sadar Police on Wednesday detained 13 people in connection with the group clash and gruesome murder of 5 nomads from Maharashtra at Karmadihi at Karamdihi Gitapada in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on the night of October 29.
Notably, the murders took place when two groups of nomadic people temporarily settled at Gitapada neighbourhood clashed against each other over an alleged love affair. Five nomadic people, including two women, were killed and four injured in the incident.
Soon after the incident, Sundargarh Sadar Police launched a search operation for the accused and detained 13 accused. Acting on a tip-off that the accused were trying to escape from the Mudabashi area, the Burpal police raided the area and nabbed them on Wednesday morning. A 20-member team from Sundargarh police station reached Burpal and took the accused into custody.
According to reports, one Abinash Pawar, who was seriously injured in the attack, was receiving threatening calls from Burpal. Based on these said phone calls, the police reached Burpal and detained the accused.
