Bhubaneswar: A 14-foot-long king cobra was successfully rescued from Padmapokhari village under Kaptipada Forest Range in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday morning.
According to reports, several villagers spotted the massive reptile slithering into a pond near a tree in the village and immediately alerted the forest department.
Acting on the information, a joint team comprising forest officials and members of the Snake Helpline reached the location promptly. After a careful and coordinated effort, the team safely rescued the snake, which was later identified as a king cobra measuring approximately 14 feet in length.
Following the rescue, the snake was transported to the Similipal forest and released into a secluded area.
