14 Injured in Honeybee Attack in Odisha’s Gajapati

Mohana: As many as 14 persons were injured after being stung by a swarm of honeybees on Saturday at Kharimera village under Adaba police limits in Gajapati district.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Mohana Hospital. The injured include six women and eight men.

According to sources, all the injured are daily wage earners and belong to Kharimera village. They had gone to a nearby forest to work there. A few of them were busy cooking under a tree when a swarm of honeybees attacked them.

They were rescued and rushed to the nearby hospital. Their condition is stated to be stable and all of them are out of danger, said sources.

Some days back, twelve members of a marriage party were injured when a swarm of bees stung them while on their way to the bride’s home in Bhushal village under Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district on March 13.
