Soro (Balasore): At least 15 girl students of Baramukhi ME School under the Soro Municipality area in Balasore district fell ill during their sports day practice session on Saturday morning.
The students were rushed to the Soro Hospital and, later, three of them were shifted to Balasore District Headquarters (DHH) after their condition deteriorated. Doctors attending the ailing students said that their condition was stable.
According to one of the girls, they were practicing musical chairs for the school sports day. Suddenly, some of the girls complained of weakness and chest pain and fell to the ground. Teachers, parents and locals present there rushed them to the Balasore DHH.
While some media reports claimed that the girls fell ill after having the mid-day meal at school, the girls clarified that they ate nothing while at school. A doctor at the Balasore DHH confirmed this saying that the students of Classes VI and VII fell ill as they had been in the sun for a long.
